COVIS Networks

The following are just a few simple examples of how the power of COVIS software can be used to create complete, comprehensive quality management systems, linking plants and offices in seamless synchronization.

Example #1 - Simple Plant-Office Pair

COVIS gauges on the plant floor perform real-time go/no-go evaluation of workpieces in production, and dimensional measurements for in-process quality management, setup and adjustment of production equipment, and plant-floor audits by QA personnel.

Remote desktop computers prepare inspection instructions, templates, and CCS overlays for use in the production area.  Workpiece images transmitted from the plant floor can be inspected at the remote location, and can be stored for later recall or long-term job histories.

Because COVIS uses true Photometric measurement techniques (measuring the image, rather than moving a workpiece and measuring motion), all of the functions of the COVIS gauge (except the camera itself) are available on remote systems, using stored or transmitted images.

Example #2 - Multi-Station Plant-Office System

Using the functions described in Example #1, above, any number of COVIS gauges and desktop or laptop computers can trade and share all forms of graphic, numeric, and text information.  Note that there is no need for any of the computers or gauges to exist in the same location.  Although a local network is shown, wider area networks allow gauges and desktops in different buildings, or even in different cities, to work as a single, unified system.

Example #3 - Global Network-Internet System

Images, inspection results, instuctions, graphics, CCS overlays, and other COVIS data can be shared with other systems anywhere in the world via e-mail, web-links, or commercial software for real-time system interfaces.

Manage, verify, or discuss QA activities with all concerned parties for truly interactive and cooperative control of quality functions.  Remote systems can be equipped with COVIS offline software, or can receive read-only data in standard text and graphics forms.  Because all COVIS data uses common formats, it can be integrated easily into presentations, spreadsheets, html documents, databases, and more.
