Quality Metalcutting Technology Since 1981

    COVIS Gallery - Example #2

Please keep in mind that images formatted for website display aren't nearly the same quality or clarity as actual COVIS views.

Cutting tools can be extremely difficult to inspect.  Their complex shapes and compound angles often defy attempts to use contact gauges.  And, because of their lengths, they're usually impossible to see in typical video microscopes.  Because standard COVIS models are designed in a horizontal configuration, and will hold even very long workpieces, cutting tool inspection is remarkably easy.  This S-Point drill is shown with a reference line (magenta) for visual alignment of its corners.  CCS tolerance zones are used to qualify the location and position of its S-curves, and the angles of its ground back-clearances.  The COVIS design includes a carefully selected combination of video camera features and high-quality optics, which can produce perfectly scaled, crystal clear images even for three-dimensional shapes, and even with gray targets made of carbide or steel.
