COVIS Computer Video Inspection Systems

COVIS is a new series of computer video gauges that can reduce inspection costs, eliminate inspection bottlenecks on the production floor, and add new levels of precision and flexibility to any inspection room.  COVIS offers an immense range of important features and benefits:

Unequalled Speed and Efficiency:  COVIS allows even the most complex inspection tasks to be completed in a fraction of the time needed by other methods, and provides reliable, repeatable, and reproducible results.

Instant Inspection Functions:  The built-in "Contour Creation System" (CCS) allows shapes or features to be modeled and displayed on-screen, with limits and tolerances taken directly from workpiece prints and specs.  This means instant, at-a-glance inspection of entire workpieces, using precise Go/No-Go standards that can encompass any number of dimensions, and can even include such features as maximum or minimum material conditions.  Errors are reduced, and immense time savings are possible.

True Photometric Measurement:  Unlike many inspection devices, COVIS does not rely on motion systems to perform measurements.  Instead, COVIS uses the power of digital imaging, and actually inspects the picture, not the work.  This allows point-and-click measurements, which are faster, more accurate, and more reliable, than physical motion.  Equally important, computer managed images can be stored, recalled, enhanced, transmitted to other computers, and can even be measured off-line, or at remote sites anywhere in the world.

Automatic Documentation:  The need to document quality control funtions has become a vitally important issue for almost every manufacturing company.  COVIS automatically logs and stores every action and every inspection result.  Stored data can be recalled, shared with other computers, or included in reports, databases, or historical archives.  Auditing of QA acitivities becomes effortless.  Review of historical data becomes a powerful, no-cost way to manage long-term process improvement.  And customer requests for verification can be answered with the click of a mouse, and the speed of an internet connection.

Off-Line Management and Control:  The full power of COVIS software is available in an off-line version that will run on a standard laptop or desktop PC.  Images captured on the production floor can be viewed, measured, and verified by QA personell in another part of the plant, or even on another continent.  Inspection procedures, CCS models, detailed instructions, and even setup parameters for each job or workpiece, can be prepared off-line, and uploaded to COVIS gauges in production areas.  COVIS offers real, total control.

Genuine Multi-Tasking:  Prepared setup information, CCS models, and detailed irocedures can be recalled instantly by the COVIS software.  A single COVIS gauge can serve an entire department or production cell, and can be completely reconfigured with a single mouse-click to suit the needs of each operator, each job, and each type of inspection.  In-plant bottlenecks, and the production time lost because of them, can be instantly eliminated.

Real World Applications:  Despite its power, precision, and sophistication, COVIS is not required to hide in the clean, air-conditioned comfort of an inspection room.  It's right at home on the plant floor, and made to work in almost any reasonable environment.  Go ahead.  Get it dirty.  It won't mind a bit.

Lifetime Software Series Updating:  That's right, lifetime.  And it's free.  Whenever we add a standard feature, find a bug that needs fixing, or just improve something because we can, every exsting user of the affected COVIS model or type gets a copy of the updated version.  No costs, no hassles, and no fears about obsolete programs or getting behind on the competitive power curve.

Total Flexibility:  COVIS is available in three standard models, and a whole world of custom configurations:

COVIS 25/25:  For small workpieces, common cutting tools, and the finest, most intricate details.  25mm square image capacity, and 50mm x 50mm target positioning range.  Effective magnifications to 350x, and resolution as small as 0.75 microns.

COVIS 25/50:  The same frame and motion as Model 25/25; but with a 50mm diameter field of view.  Effictive magnification to 175x, and resolution to 1.5 microns.

COVIS 50/50:  A larger base, 50mm diameter field of view, and 75mm x 75mm target positioning, allow inspection of larger, heavier workpieces.

COVIS MAX:  This is our term for an unlimited range of custom shapes, sizes, and applications of the basic COVIS concept.  In-process inspection right on the machine?  Not a problem.  Internal shapes, ID features, or off-axis dimensions?  Just ask.  You'll be surprised at what's possible.  Need to check complex forms on broach teeth, or the position and runout of inserts in a gear or milling cutter.  We can do that, too.  COVIS is made to do what other gauges can't, and to do it faster, more effectively, and more economically, than anything you've ever seen before.  COVIS is serious inspection.
